EPI CENTAR is starting the implementation of a national field survey with agricultural producers, as part of the activities related to the Groundwater Management, Use and Protection Programme.
The purpose of the survey is to collect field-based data on farmers’ access to water, existing irrigation practices, costs related to water use, and the needs of agricultural producers for improved water services. The survey will also cover farmers’ willingness to pay for services that could contribute to more efficient and sustainable management of water resources.
The research will be conducted in different regions across the country, with the aim of obtaining a broader understanding of the situation on the ground and the differences in access, use and needs related to water for agricultural production. This information is important for better understanding the practical challenges faced by farmers, especially in the context of increasing needs for more efficient use of water resources.
The survey will be implemented in cooperation with the National Federation of Farmers, which will provide support in field mobilisation and communication with farmers.
The collected data will serve as a basis for the preparation of analysis and recommendations that will contribute to improved planning, more efficient water services and sustainable management of groundwater and surface water in the country.
The Water Management, Use and Protection Programme is a programme of the Government of Switzerland and aims to support the development of long-term capacities for the management of groundwater and surface water in the country.
